Week 6: We're pregnant!

So here we are - pregnant! How surreal and exciting! I'm not sure it's entirely sunk in yet, but I've fully submerged myself in "babyland": reading baby books and baby name books, surfing pregnancy websites, perusing baby magazines ... can I keep up this level of excitement for the next 34 weeks without driving myself bonkers?

So far I've experienced no major physical changes. My boobs have gotten a little bigger, which isn't a bad thing - yet, and they have yet to become sore so I should appreciate that while I can. I've also had some slight nausea, but no puking so far! My weight hasn't changed either, at least not that I've noticed.

I'm getting my first ultrasound next Wednesday. I experienced a bit of spotting for about a week so my doctor wants to ensure that everything is fine. I'm glad that I have such a cautious doctor who wants to cover all bases at all times. I hope my obstetrician will be as attentive. Anyway, I'm trying hard not to worry myself over the spotting; it seems to have stopped and I haven't experienced any pain or other abnormal side effects, like fever or chills, that might indicate something is wrong.

We have yet to officially annouce our pregnancy, even to our parents! So far the only people who know are our friends, Andi and Vinny, who are expecting their first child in October (I'm so happy about having a good friend to share the pregnancy experience with that I couldn't possibly keep this to myself!) and my supervisor at work, since I'm cutting out early for this appointment and that. We're waiting to get the results of the ultrasound before telling our folks - I can't wait!! Dad will be so excited, as will Nic's parents. I'm sure I'll be a blubbering mess when we share the good news. It would be nice to tell Dad in person, but since he's in Inverness and we're in Newmarket that's just not gonna happen, so we'll send some flowers and follow up with a phone call (although I'm sure he'll beat us to the phone call!)
