Such a sweetheart! (And other things.)

Caitlin is just too cute! After I lay her in her crib at bedtime she gets up for another kiss, then promptly lays back down with her head on her pillow and snuggles in. Heart melting!

She's also showing off her little personality at a local indoor playground these days. Today she figured out the toddler slide, going up, sliding down (feet first on her tummy), and then getting up and doing it all over again. When some of the older kids were taking too long to take their turn she'd start whapping them on the back and yelling at them. Ha-ha! She certainly doesn't shy away from the bigger kids at all.

From babydom to toddlerhood

Caitlin is finally making the transition. She's not walking/toddling independantly yet, but she is doing very well with her walker, and she's learned to manouver it with serious expertise! Today she's started pushing herself into a stand independantly and holds it for a second, but it's a real step towards independant walking. So, the princess may walk soon!

Her comprehension is really coming along, too. She understands simple requests, like, 'put the wipes in the basket' and 'try to stand up' and 'where's your milk?'. And she has a few words: Dada (no 'Mama' yet), uh-oh (used in context), bye-bye (more like 'buh-buh', once in a while), and the other day we could have sworn she said 'oh dear'.

Her new favourite food appears to be clementines. We were at a friends house the other day and shared a couple, then before I knew it I had a half gnawed whole clementine in front of me (Caitlin swiped one and chewed through the peel desperate to get to the good stuff!).

She hasn't shown much interest in baby signing, despite my efforts. But, she's found other ways to communicate with us. She tends to point to things that she wants to hold, have, or know the name of. And if there's any sort of food on her tray she isn't interested in you'll find it meets the floor rapidly. If she wants more of something you'll be met with shrieks. She's also mastered the emphatic head shake (for 'no') and 'yeah!' and can answer a lot of questions that way.

Caitlin really enjoys books. She's not always keen on having a story read to her, but she loves to hold books, thumbing through them looking at the pictures.

And I must say, she's a very appreciative audience. Even when you think she's not listening she'll take the time to drop what she's doing and clap when I've finished singing a song. Such a funny girl!
