Week 32: Surprise!

I met with some friends for lunch yesterday and they surprised me with some gifts and turned our lunch into a little baby shower. It was so nice of them, especially since I'm not actually having a family baby shower. It's just proving too difficult to get everyone together in one location so I decided it was best to call the whole thing off. I'm happy to minimize stress wherever I can these days.

Anyway, here's me opening a present:

P.S. I'm exactly 32 weeks today!

Week 31: Baby hiccups!

I'm 31 weeks today and snapped this pic of myself yesterday. I really should ask Nic to take the pictures so that the camera isn't in the shot all the time. (Nice elastic band holding it all together, eh?)

I've finally felt baby hiccups two nights in a row. Friends weren't kidding me when they said one of the most bizarre things I'd feel during pregnancy would be hiccups in my crotch!

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty good for the most part, but getting a little slower. I'm up about 20 lbs, but still managing to haul my butt and my laptop up the three flights of stairs to my cube at work. Fatigue is setting in again. My quality of sleep is okay, but not great.

I can hardly wait to be finished with work. I'm not sure I can stick it out until December 9th, but I don't feel I have a whole lot of choice. Oh well...

Here's looking forward to mat leave, the arrival of little Ben, and the holiday season! :)

Week 30: The flu :(

I came down with an awful flu virus on Tuesday afternoon and have been off work since. I can't believe how sick I was; I've lost six pounds this week, and that's not particularly great for a pregnant woman. I'm feeling better today though and am eating a bit more and getting my fluids back up, and the baby's been moving like crazy, so he doesn't appear to be short-changed (thankfully!)

Week 29: Prenatal classes

Nic and I attended prenatal classes at our hospital last night and all day today. There was a lot of information to take in, but it was quite interesting, for the most part.

I'm feeling much better about the idea of having an epidural, although I'm much more worried about how we'll cope when we first bring the baby home and he's feeding every 2 - 3 hours and we're not sleeping, especially since I don't have any immediate family locally. Nic's planning to take the first couple of weeks off after the baby's born, but he'll play it by ear and if he needs to be at home longer he'll take more time off. Nic's family is just in Toronto and I know they're more than happy to help if we need it and I appreciate that SO much, but I just miss my mom a lot right now.

Week 28: New belly shots

Here's a couple of pics I took this morning - exactly 28 weeks (according to my EDD of December 25th.)

I don't know why people are so surprised that I'm pregnant... and then floored when I tell them how far along I am. I think I look quite pregnant!

Week 28: The nursery is painted and registries done!

Nic took this past week off work, as planned, and finished a bunch of work in the nursery. The room is now painted and ready for new carpeting and underpadding, which we expect to be installed in a couple of weeks. After the carpet is laid we can set up the crib and change table, then shop for the remaining items... seating, night stand, book shelf, etc.

Anyway, here's a photo of the nursery-in-progress. I love the colour! Nic did a wonderful job!

And finally I went to the mall and set up baby registries with Sears and Babies R Us (are ya happy now, Andi??) Knowing how easy it is for these things to get out of hand I tried to keep it scaled down and I think I met my objective. Whittling down a list of necessities can be overwhelming though... there are just so many choices.
